How can I make this hardwood quarter-round look better? (see picture)?

As you can see in the picture below

http://mrat.net/transition

The quarter round transition pieces on my hardwood floor don’t line up properly. What’s the best way to fix this?
The transition is actually at the first step of a stairway. The first step is indented behind the wall a bit, so the two pieces of quarter rounds don’t line up. How can I transition b/w them nicely? Neither answer so far provides a solution!

You actually need a 3 rd pc. and redo the "outside" pc ..The 1 in further needs to be mitered as an inside corner and the further 1 needs a new pc and mitered as an outside corner w/ a small double cut pc to fit in between. GL

  2. just say it says:

Pull the quarter round out of the doorway – purchase (prefinished from the store you got the wood from and/or stain) a new threshold. The threshold is used for doorways. Check out lumberliquidaters online for more info…
