My daughter is 7 days old and her umbilical cord is halfway off. The thing is, it looks kind of pussy and bloody underneath where it is falling off. I am really worried. Here is a picture. HELP!!!
my son is a month old and his looked similar. i was kind of freaked out but as long as there is no blood or pus coming out of it; she will be okay…it was like that for a few days than it fell off on its own. just give it a few more days and it will start to look better.
it could be a slight infection… call a doctor.

When I had my baby they said that if it was pussy and bloody to express a little bit of breast milk and put that on it. Sounds kinda weird to me but the bacteria in it is supposed to help to heal it. If that doesn’t work use a bit of salt water. Take her to see the midwives were ashe was born if your worried. Hopefully they will be able to help and you won’t have to pay to see a doctor.

congrats!!! when my son was born his did the same thing so i took him in to the doctor, they told me to clean it with alcohol twice a day to dry it up and help it heal. try and be as careful as possible that you dont pull it off or further infect it, but the alcohol should help and it should fall off in a few days

Do not apply anything without doctor’s help. Call doctor now, probably small infection. All be OK.

It looks okay to me also. I would not put Salt water on it…Salt in a cut hurts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is hard to tell by the pic if that is puss in the base or just the healing skin.
